You probably already doodle or take notes in your Bible... but have you tried Bible journaling? As you study a passage of Scripture, keep a journal where you write down the date and the Bible Address (book, verse, and chapter). Then write (or sketch, or paint) your thoughts on the passage.
Draw A Map or Timeline

As a kinesthetic (hands-on) learner, you can remember information best when you create/make something that places the information into a visual form. Try drawing a map of the route Jesus and the disciples took as you study through the gospels. Or create a timeline of Old Testament events as you study.
Create Associated Actions

When you connect a physical motion, like making a heart with your hands while you say aloud, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16), the physical motion can help you to memorize the words in the verse.

A friend recommended this podcast to me a couple of years ago and I am hooked. If you're interested in learning more about the history of Israel, this is a fascinating podcast hosted by Noam Weissman. Noam really brings the stories of Israel from ancient Israel to modern day Israel to life.

You can utilize BlueLetterBible.org for a variety of uses including searching through Scripture, studying the Bible, reading devotionals and more. The website includes a complete Hebrew and Greek lexicon and audio soundbites of pronunciations.
This resource is a great tool for both beginning Bible students and seasoned ones. A downloadable app is also available for free.

As the Artist, you might find that you really enjoy studying John's Gospel. John was one of Jesus's closest companions and is known as the Apostle of Love.
In Scripture there is more than one man named John, so it is important to keep straight which one is the Apostle John who five books of the New Testament: the Book of John, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John and the prophetic Book of Revelation.
John was one of the original 12 disciples Jesus. He was the brother of James and the son of Zebedee. Along with his brother he was a fisherman in Galilee.
John is often referred to as "the one whom Jesus loved" as was part of Jesus' "inner-circle" that included Peter, James (John's brother) and John. All three men were present with Jesus on Mount Tabor when Jesus was transfigured and they were visited by Moses and Elijah. (Matthew 17:1-9)
As is true for many believers, John began his discipleship struggling with pride and youthful immaturity. He would eventually mature into a humble and steadfast apostle, one who is "sent out."
John was a passionate person (Jesus referred to him and his brother James as the "Sons of Thunder") and his gospel reflects his deep passion for the importance of truth and for highlighting Jesus' deity. John would later become known as the "Apostle of Love" because of his deep compassion for others.
John's gospel is an evangelizing book and introduces Jesus from "the beginning" of creation. In it, John includes seven "I Am" statements Jesus made during his earthly ministry.
John was likely the youngest of the Apostles and is believed to be the only one who did not die a martyrs death. He lived to old age and is believed to have died in Ephesus near the end of the first century. (Possibly AD 98)

WHO WAS JOHN WRITING TO?
As the last of the gospels written, John wanted to correct false teachings about who Jesus was. He was writing to second generation Christian believers and those who didn't yet believe.
WHAT WAS THE REASON JOHN WROTE HIS ACCOUNT?
Likely written sometime between AD 85-90 years after the Romans destroyed Jerusalem in AD 70.
WHEN DID JOHN WRITE HIS ACCOUNT?
John's gospel is a "spiritual" gospel unlike the other three "synoptic" gospels. John was not focused on Jesus' activities, but rather on the meaning behind Jesus' actions. It is a theology book that shows Jesus as both fully God and fully man.
